Southwest Silver Turquoise Bracelet
Description
Al Joe, Navajo, is a well respected traditional Southwest silversmith. I believe Al Joe is retired and his jewelry is being made by his family. This bracelet was handmade by Al Joe himself.
This Bracelet was made Circa 2010. Perfect for dressing up or a casual evening.
It is inlaid with gem, Pilot Mountain Turquoise and Ox Blood Red Coral. These are High Grade Gems from a mine long closed. I do not know of any other bracelets Al made like this.
It measures 5/8" wide and the cuff has a 1" opening It will fit a 5 3/4" to a 6" wrist. The size can not be adjusted. To adjust the bracelet the gemstones must first be removed and refit after the silver alteration. Lucky the person it fits... it was meant to be.
Here we have a highly collectible, Al Joe, Silver and Turquoise bracelet. It is perfectly inlaid with Gem Pilot Mountain Turquoise and Mediterranean Coral. This is the only one. There will never be another like it. The Pilot Mountain mine is long closed and the turquoise long gone. There was never much to begin with.
The color of these turquoise gems is a soft blue drifting to a mellow blue green. Turquoise like this, where you can look into the stone, is rare. That property is called Zat, brilliance, Zat is a name that goes back to Ancient Persia where some of the best turquoise was mined. It is also called Gel, a modern term here in the Southwest applied to those rare, very hard (not soft and porous) gemstones that appear liquid
