Description
Hopi Overlay Maze Bracelet Handmade by Watson Honanie
Continuous Life
Circa 2000
This bracelet was made entirely by hand by Watson Honanie.
It was made using the Overlay Technique. That is there are two seperate layers of silver, one over the other. The bottom layer of silver is finely incised (each mark is finely chased with a chisel) to compliment the design of the top layer.
The top layer of silver is a very complex maze design.
The top layer is hand cut in one continuous design. Not stitched together in pieces.
The bottom layer was hand hammered.
Consider this a one of a kind masterpiece from award winning, Hopi Pueblo, silversmith Watson Honanie. This bracelet is featured American Indian Artist Biographies but attributed to Kara Honanie, Watson's daughter.
The hallmark on this bracelet is clearly Watson's; not Kara's. I bought it directly from Watson. It carries the Watson Honanie hallmark.
The Bracelet is 2 1/4" wide
The cuff's opening is 1"
It is for a 6" wrist... The size can be adjusted slightly
