Description
Glendis Tsadiasi, Zuni
Circa Year 2000
Glendis Tsadiasi is related to Randy Tsadiasi. Randy is a very fine silversmith and Tribal Leader. As you can see from my photos, this is exceptional silver and lapidary work.
The entire bracelet was entirely handmade, from design to final polish, by Glendis Tsadiasi.
The Zuni (New Mexico, USA) are considered to be the first Southwest silversmiths to add lapidary (mainly turquoise) to silver jewelry (circa 1885).
Especially outstanding is Zuni Channel and Mosaic Inlay (circa 1930). This level of attention to detail and execution of design is a very far cut above ordinary. Consider this Tsadiasi piece Investment Grade / Top Shelf. Don't let the modest price fool you. This is the real deal.
The bracelet is constructed with delicate, square, silver wire. The silver channels are filled with Gem (not laboratory made) materials.... *** Gem Pure sky Blue Turquoise, Opal like highly iridescent Mother of Pearl, Black Jet, and Gem Red Coral.
The Inlay is not flat. I order to arrive at these rounded, shaped gems the design required much grinding and shaping of the gemstones... in other words, much raw material was ground away (turned to dust) to arrive at these matching, shaped gems.
Each stone is secure in its own silver channel... each is perfectly domed, one shaped exactly like the one next to it. ** Each stone is forever secure in its own channel.
The Inlay is 1 1/4" wide across the face of the bracelet.
The bracelet is sized for a 6 1/4" wrist with an opening is 1 1/4"
It can not be made larger. However, It can easily and safely be made a bit smaller (without any damage to the bracelet).
