Collection: Tufa Cast Bracelets

Tufa casting is a Native American Jewelry process where the design is carved into sandstone. Both the obverse and reverse of the image are carved to form a mold. Molten silver or gold is quickly poured into the mold to create the bracelet.  Finishing involves removing slag, gemstones and other adornments are added and the piece is polished. It is important to note that usually only one casting can be made from each tufa cast mold since sandstone material will be removed from the mold along with the native American Indian jewelry, and all future casting would lose the detail... each future casting will have progressively less detail.
