Della Casa (Casi) Appa was a very early, 1920's - 1930's), Zuni Silversmith. She was among the first of CG Wallace's acclaimed group of artists who set the standard for all Native American jewelry that was to follow. Della Casa Appa was the first woman silversmith in Zuni if not all of the Southwest. Her jewelry is extremely collectible not only for its historic value but frankly for its incredible quality. I can not find her hallmark in books or in her jewelry so I can only assume she did not sign her work. However, like most silversmiths of the period her hallmark is in the way she made her jewelry. Copying other silversmiths jewelry was not an accepted Zuni practice.
